Earthcrest Sanctuary is Ready to Take Action to Help the Wild Horses!

November 27, 2009

I just want to say: We know where there is over 1900 acres with artesian wells available in the San Luis Valley of Colorado. It is already mostly fenced and borders Colorado BLM land. This land once had a large wild horse herd that was wiped out by cattle ranchers and potato farmers. However, this particular parcel can now be purchased and used to support many of these animals. Earthcrest Sanctuary has received Fiscal Sponsorship from, and is working in cooperation with Heaven’s Gateway Horse Rescue to create off-grid community animal rescue operation in the spring. However, after extensive discussion with much concern for the welfare of the wild horse herds, we have decided to seek emergency help from donors to attempt to immediately create a private sanctuary space for these animals. We are now calling upon the same celebrities who have taken a stand, as well as the other organizations involved to contact us. We have 501(c)3 status so any donations to this cause will be tax deductible. I have personally already contacted the Realtor with the property listed. The land is zoned for agriculture and has no restrictions. There are 3 artesian wells flowing, and we have vets, farriers and experts with many years of horse rescue and welfare experience standing by and ready to make this happen.

This is a chance to give MANY of these horses the room they need to run, and horse lovers who can watch over them to make sure they remain healthy and happy.

Help us create an alternative to holding pens and possible slaughter!

We are calling for:

Donations, emergency funding, volunteers for IMMEDIATE action to acquire this land and finish fencing it. If the BLM is thwarted in this roundup, we propose saving the mustangs they already have sitting in holding areas. (They have already been holding auctions and sales of these horses in towns in Texas, Canon City in Colorado, and Oklahoma, but if they don’t sell they deem them worthless and kill them.)

This is a situation we have all been monitoring, and a cause we have all been fighting for for a long time. THIS is an opportunity to DO SOMETHING and we CAN preserve these herds NOW. PLEASE HELP!
